Here at Princess Motor Yacht Sales, it’s all about the ‘Princess family’ and making sure our yacht owners in the UK and worldwide get the most enjoyment out of their boating season. We’ve hosted a number of fantastic events this summer, finishing off with two great boat shows displaying over 14 models between them. Take a look at what we’ve been up to this summer…
Barcelona Grand Prix cruise, 10th – 14th May
This year’s annual cruise to Barcelona took place over a beautiful weekend, joined by Princess yacht owners, it was definitely a high-octane highlight of our events calendar for 2018. As a flotilla, we voyaged towards Marina Port Vell from Port Adriano, where we stayed for 4 nights, enjoying fine cuisine and great company. On the 13th of May, owners enjoyed platinum access to the Barcelona Grand Prix, arguably one of the more difficult yet exciting race tracks, to watch Lewis Hamilton win the race.
Isle of Wight rendezvous, 2nd June
We kicked off the summer season in style with Princess owners in the Isle of Wight. At the Folly Inn in Cowes, we had a great night of food, drink and entertainment – we even got up and had a dance on the tables! This mini owner’s event is a perfect opportunity to join us and Princess owners, socialise and have fun without committing too much time to being away.
“Thanks to you and your team for a most enjoyable Saturday at the Folly. Sarah and I had a great time, only spoilt by a somewhat sore head the following morning! I am aware of all the hard work that goes into organising such events, so congratulations and thank you once again.”
– Tim Summers
Cala Llamp day cruise, 15th June
On the 15th of June, we invited Princess and Chris-Craft owners on a day cruise to Cala Llamp. The weather was certainly in our favour, making for a smooth crossing and the perfect opportunity to dine al fresco. 9 boats joined us on the cruise with 29 people in total, a great turn-out for this simple yet enjoyable day cruise. We started off the day, setting sail from Port Adriano to the bay of Cala Llamp, where we anchored the boats and took a tender to the shore for lunch at Gran Folies Beach Club. After lunch, a tender was available to escort owners and their guests back to their boats, where we enjoyed some watertoys. JetExperience brought in some jetski’s for everyone to try and everyone did have a go, with the weather as great as it was and the waves calm and bright blue, it was the perfect opportunity to zip around on a jetski.
French rendezvous, 6th – 11th July
After a successful rendezvous to Guernsey in 2017, this year we extended our trip to Northern France. The six-day cruise gave our owners the chance to explore the picturesque coastline of Normandy, taking in the charming ports of Cherbourg and Honfleur. Both marine towns are drenched in naval history and traditional centres, making them intriguing and idyllic locations to visit. As a flotilla, we voyaged from Swanwick Marina to Cherbourg on calm seas taking in wide vistas across the English Channel. In Honfleur, we enjoyed a historic walking tour of the town and ventured further through Normandy to discover D-Day landing sites.
“Everything from the berths, restaurants and cider tour were spot on… and you sorted the weather too! We had a good trip and won’t forget our calvados night in a hurry.”
– Rob & Helen Facer
Camp de Mar day cruise, 13th July
The stunning island of Mallorca is the perfect location for our seasonal day cruises, this time venturing to Camp de Mar with a flotilla of Princess owners. Anchored in the beautiful bay was our flotilla of Princess yachts, looking at home in the summer sun and crystal blue water. We enjoyed lunch at Illeta, a secluded restaurant and cocktail bar situated on a rocky island in the centre of this scenic bay. After lunch, we had a fantastic water toy display including pieces from Seabob, Nautibuoy bathing platforms and Jetski docking stations, all of which our owners took much enjoyment in exploring and finding out more about how these pieces can enhance their yacht experience.
Salcombe rendezvous, 4th – 5th August
The Princess Motor Yacht Sales South-West team invited Princess owners to join them on a rendezvous to Salcombe, known for its stunning shores, clear waters and of course, its gin! The cruise kicked off with a gin tasting at the award-winning Salcombe gin followed by a delicious surf n’ turf barbeque at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel. This weekend’s event provided the perfect opportunity for our owners to come together and socialise, share stories and enjoy good food and drink in a stunning coastal resort and in beautiful summer sun.
Rybrook & Princess drive day, 7th August
This annual drive day has proved to be quite a success in our events diary, giving luxury yacht owners and luxury vehicle owners the opportunity to ‘trade-in’ and experience both in one day. Meeting at our Plymouth Turnchapel office, we parted ways by road and by sea journeying towards the Harbour Hotel in Salcombe where we enjoyed a light lunch in the summer sun, with spectacular views out to the beautiful bay. On our return journey, we mixed the group therefore allowing everyone to experience the thrill of the luxury cars provided by Rybrook, and the great sea-handling of Princess craft on water.
Cala D’Or Yacht Club reception, 11th August
As part of our summer season of events in Mallorca, this evening was a chance for us (Princess Motor Yacht Sales) to welcome our owners and their guests to a special cocktail reception to enjoy some food and drink amongst the company of other yacht owners. A low-key event such as this one gives our owners the chance to share their stories of boating around the world, their ups and downs and learn of other’s experiences also.
Day cruise to Illetas, 24th August
This was the final cruise of the summer season in Mallorca presenting the final opportunity this year for our owners to come together with their guests and enjoy the company of other members of the ‘Princess family’ in the beautiful bay of Illetas. Lunch was served at the Ballneario Illetas beach club, overlooking the harbour leaving enough time afterwards to enjoy an exhilarating water toy show including Princess limited edition Seabobs, Nautibuoy platforms, paddle boards and jetskis.
We rounded off the summer season with two fantastic boat shows, Southampton Boat Show (taking place from 14th – 23rd September) and Cannes Yachting Festival (taking place from 11th – 16th September). Both shows were a great success with new models including the F70, V60 and the striking R35 on show and with mostly beautiful sunny weather, even in Southampton until the final weekend when we were struck by ‘Storm Ali’, although this didn’t dampen our spirits! Across both shows we had a jaw-dropping display of over 14 different Princess models giving members of the public the perfect opportunity to view a vast variety of Princess craft all on the water. During this time too, we displayed at the Swanwick Used Boat Show from 14th – 23rd September with a great selection of used and brokerage yachts to see.
